Wampas or Wampa Ice Creatures, are white-furred repto-mammals with with horns and great, huge claws to match their huge musclular arms and body. Wampa are able to walk on either two legs or all four(including their arms), though usually using their arms to knock out their prey, holding them inside their private ice caves, stuck on the wall with ice until the Wampa wanted to feed on it's prey. They usually hunt Tauntauns, but attacked and ate many Rebel soldiers that came on came to Hoth after the the Empire Discovered their previous base on Yavin 4. It is also seen on the movie Star wars Empire Strikes Back, a Wampa attacks Luke Skywalker and knocks him out cold before taking out his Tauntaun as well. Luke later wakes up in the Wampas private ice cave, just laying their waiting for a Wampa to come and feast on him. The Wampa was believed to have been solitary creatures, independent and self-reliant, but during the time Luke Skywalker was captured, Luke is attacked and dragged to the ice cave by a male Wampa, but once Luke has regained conciousness, he is found inside the cave of a female Wampa - suggesting that Wampa are not quite as solitary as thought... that perhaps the two share a bond, even foraging food for one another. The Wampa later suffers the loss of one arm after attacking Skywalker - or attempting to - but Luke is too quick and quickly pulls his Lightsaber on the beast - thus earning the Wampa the nickname One-Arm after encountering the Wampa years after. The Wampa females are said to have a litter of up to 3 cubs in all.
